The Signage System That Transformed AA Signs’ Operations
AA Signs supplies traffic management and directional signage for some of the biggest events in the UK. Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Wimbledon, Silverstone Grand Prix, Royal Ascot and major airshows all depend on its work.
Getting that signage to site was a heavy job. AA Signs used traditional metal frames, each pre-rigged with signage at its central production hub in Redditch. The frames were then transported across the country and assembled by hand at the event.
The process was slow and labour-intensive. It also carried higher safety risks for operatives. Extensive vehicle use pushed up operating costs and added to the carbon impact of every job.
AA Signs partnered with Oxford Plastics to find a better way. The answer was the EnduraFrame 1500 system.

The team began with a trial of 1,000 first-generation frames. AA Signs worked closely with Oxford Plastics throughout, sharing real-world feedback that shaped the next version of the product. Based on that success, AA Signs expanded the rollout with a further 4,000 improved units.
With 5,000 EnduraFrames now deployed, AA Signs has decentralised its operations and no longer needs a central holding depot. The frames are in use at the UK’s biggest events.
What changed
• Simpler installation
• Lower transport and logistics costs
• Fewer miles and less fuel
• Easier handling
• A one-size-fits-all system that simplifies operations
• Proven durability in demanding environments
The Outcome
EnduraFrame is a bigger upfront investment. It costs around three times as much as a traditional metal frame. But the total cost of ownership tells a different story. Savings across labour, transport, storage and day-to-day efficiency far outweigh the initial outlay.
Rob Trevethick of AA Signs describes the frames as “a game changer for us”. He explains that they prompted a complete shift in how the business operates, with significant savings that have streamlined the operation.
The health and safety gains matter just as much. Teams are delighted with how easy the frames are to handle, and Rob sees them as a solution that genuinely works for every job.
