Procurement Officer

Salary: Circa £25K - £30K
Reporting to: Procurement Manager

The Procurement Officer role represents an exciting opportunity to take on a position with significant operational responsibility, tasked primarily with ensuring materials and parts get to the factory in good time to enable production whilst achieving best value for money. This role thrives on forming strong professional relationships both internally and externally with existing and potential suppliers. Suiting a detail oriented, data driven and professional individual, this role offers additional opportunities to contribute to improving systems and processes with the goal of efficiency improvement and driving best practice

Procurement Officer

Roles and Responsibilites 

Direct Purchasing:

  • Run MRP regularly to check and generate demand
  • Run day to day purchasing of both imported and domestically sourced raw materials of value ~£800k/month
  • Research new suppliers and supply routes
  • Administer international waste shipments process for import of raw materials for recycling
  • Negotiate for best value for money on individual purchases where appropriate

Indirect Purchasing:

  • Support operations department in purchase and arrangement of services & ancillary goods.
  • Supporting the capital expenditure requests process

Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Create and maintain data on MRP
  • Support ERP readiness projects and general system improvements
  • Support procurement and adjacent department process improvements
  • Support audit and compliance checks including, International Waste Shipments, HMRC imports, supplier conformance and internal quality
  • Support cost saving and value for money initiatives
  • Execute and control procurement reporting

Warehousing:

  • Supporting the planning, execution and reporting of warehouse stock holdings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Strong IT skills, comfort in working with MS office, particularly excel
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work as a team player and demonstrate a professional attitude
  • An analytical approach to tasks
  • A detail-oriented approach

Desired

  • 2+ years’ experience working in manufacturing
  • 2+ years’ experience in working in purchasing
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience with access databases, Sage or any equivalent ERP

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary Circa £25K – £30K
  • Bonus* 0.25% of company net profits
  • Working Hours Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00 (37.5pw)
  • Annual leave 25 days + BH
  • Pension Employer 3% contribution
